Plain Weave

English  : Plain Weave, tabby weave, linen weave, taffeta weave

Definition: the most basic structure for producing cloth and one of the 3 major weaves for making fabrics. It’s a simple weave where weft threads interlace with warp threads in a way that every weft thread passes over one warp thread and under the next warp thread. This order is reversed with the next weft thread as the warp threads that were under the previous weft thread are raised and the warp threads that were over the previous weft thread are lowered. In plain weaves, the fabric’s front and back look the same and the surface looks plain as the name implies. Plain weaves need only 2 shafts to implement.
